MCL runs a Technical Training School at Maamba. This facility, accredited to Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) of Zambia, provides vocational training and skill development for local youth to improve their employability in trades like welding, electrician training and is considering starting courses in plumbing and

MCL also runs Livelihood Restoration Programme in partnership with the Catholic church and conducts classes in tailoring for women and carpentry in joinery for men from less privileged sections of the community, giving them the opportunity to become financially independent.
The company is actively involved in community events such as Women’s Day, Labour Day, Environment Day and other traditional and cultural events etc., as well as normally being the first responder in providing assistance in event of natural calamities and other emergencies.

The company has taken a lead role in the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic. Its many interventions include donation of a ventilator to the Ministry of Health for the Maamba General Hospital, assisting the Sinazongwe District Health authorities in setting up the COVID management centre, conduct of COVID 19 vaccination drives for the employees of the company and sub-contractors and their families, as also disseminating information and increasing awareness amongst the community and schools about safety precautions and health guidelines to be adopted
