Fireman (1 Position)

Main Purpose of the Job

Responsible for responding to fires, accidents and other incidents where risks are posed to life
and property. The Incumbent will perform firefighting duties such as combating, extinguishing
and preventing fires.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and monitor all installations, premises, firefighting equipment and accessories at the mine, power plant and established places, and report on the findings;
  • Inspect all firefighting equipment on the fire truck and ensure it is well maintained and ready for use during emergency;
  • Conduct fire prevention inspections as directed by the Fire Officer and write a report for his attention;
  • Identify potential safety or fire hazards, take action or make recommendations to eliminate hazards;
  • Ensure that fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire alarms, sprinkler system and fire hydrants are in operating condition;
  • Drive and operate the fire truck (as a pump operator) at the scene of fire or during emergency;
  • Exhibit good conduct to the authority as required by the fire services law;
  • Provide special services to the community and the company when under the direction of the Fire Officer;
  • Responsible to perform efficient fire-fighting, rescue services, and special and humanitarian emergencies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate; and
  • Firefighting Certificate
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Good unaided eyesight and hearing; and
  • Must be physically fit
Safety Officer (1 Position)

Main Purpose of the Job

The Incumbent will be required to monitor work place activities to ensure workers comply with
company policies and government safety regulations in order to prevent loss of life and injuries
and prevent property damage.

  • Plan and implement OHS policies and programs
  • Advise and lead employees on various safety related topics
  • Prepare educational seminars on a regular basis
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Enforce preventative measures
  • Identify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions
  • Check if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations
  • Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes
  • Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees’ safety

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (3) years of experience as a Safety Officer or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of safety related legislations and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • A minimum of a Diploma or Better in SHEQ from a recognized institution.
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Outstanding organizational skills
Dispatch Officer (1 Position)

Direct reporting to: Weighbridge Dispatch Supervisor

Main purpose of the Job

To ensure the smooth operation of the weighbridge facility and to provide accurate weight information for all out bound and inbound loaded coal trucks.

  • Ensure that the truck is properly positioned on the Weighbridge then receive loading/ delivery documents from the Driver in order to verify that they match the physical truck on the weighbridge.
  • Issue the loading document to the driver on the outbound process and release the truck for loading /off-loading.
  • Check proper function of the Weighbridge, communication and computer equipment to avoid any truck delays and report any malfunction immediately its noted as per escalation procedure and follow up on repair.
  • Safe guard the company against the loss of revenue by ensuring that all inbound and out bound trucks are accurately weighed (if under or overweight send the driver back to the responsible officers for corrective action).
  • Controlling traffic flow within the weighbridge area.
  • Comply with all healthy, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain weighbridge records for all inbound and outbound trucks
  • Preparations and reconciliation of a dispatch report with the Mining Department.
  • Generate and circulate accurate daily weighbridge reports.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Certificate in Weighbridge Operators Course/ or equivalent
  • Minimum of Four (4) years’ Experience
  • Knowledge of SAP system will be an added advantage

Other Attributes

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate recording of weights
  • Excellent Organization skills to manage paper work and documents
  • Effective communication skills to interact with drivers and other team members.
